Abstract

Taxonomic and genetic studies were carried out on hydrocarbon-utilizing yeasts received from the Department of Genetics and Selection, A. A. Zhdanov Leningrad State University, Leningrad, U.S.S.R. These strains have been referred to by Inge-Vechtomov and colleagues as “hydrocarbon-utilizing mutants of ” However, we were unable to confirm this identification.
