Strain CCM 3572 (= VIII1) is the type strain of this species. The chemical composition of the cell walls of the strains of this new species is similar to that of Staphylococcus epidermidis, but these organisms are resistant to novobiocin and produce acid from a wide range of carbohydrates. Staphylococcal strains isolated from goat milk belong to another new species, Staphylococcus caprae. The type strain is CCM 3573 (= 143.22). These strains are more closely related to S. epidermidis and Staphylococcus capitis than to other staphylococci.", }
