Abstract

Deoxyribonucleic acid-ribosomal ribonucleic acid hybridization studies revealed that the pink-pigmented facultative methylotrophs that are in part classified as pseudomonads are not related to members of the established ribosomal ribonucleic acid homology groups of the genus . The molecular data support inclusion of the pink-pigmented facultative methylotrophs in the genus , as suggested by Green and Bousfield (Int. J. Syst. Bacteriol. 33:875-877, 1983).
