Abstract

Abstract

The description of the genus is amended to include strains having either a type PII (phosphatidylethanolamine) or a type PIV (phosphatidylethanolamine and glucosamine-containing phospholipids) phospholipid pattern. A new antibiotic-producing species, (type strain, NRRL 15764), is described. Shearer et al. 1983 is transferred to the amended genus as comb. nov. subsp. Takahashi et al. 1986 is described as a new species, , based on its physiological properties and lack of high levels of deoxyribonucleic acid relatedness to the previously described species.
