Abstract

A Gram-positive, aerobic and non-motile bacterial strain, designated ON-33, was subjected to a study based on a polyphasic approach to determine its exact taxonomic position. Strain ON-33 grew optimally at pH 7.0–7.5 and 30 °C. A neighbour-joining phylogenetic tree based on 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that strain ON-33 fell within the clade comprising species, clustering with CC-AB07, with which it exhibited 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity of 98.5 %. The chemotaxonomic properties of strain ON-33 were consistent with those shared by members of the genus . The peptidoglycan type was based on -diaminopimelic acid and the whole-cell sugars were arabinose and galactose. The predominant menaquinone was MK-9(H). The major polar lipids were phosphatidylglycerol, diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylinositol and phosphatidylinositol mannoside. The major fatty acids were C, iso-C 2-OH and/or C 7, 10-methyl C and C 9. The DNA G+C content was 66.9 mol%. Strain ON-33 exhibited a DNA–DNA relatedness value of 13 % to . DSM 44995 and could be differentiated from . by differences in phenotypic characteristics. On the basis of the data obtained, strain ON-33 is considered to represent a novel species of the genus , for which the name sp. nov., is proposed. The type strain is ON-33 (=KCTC 19599=CCUG 57507).
