Abstract

Genomic DNA sequence data for the 16S rRNA gene and the gene of PS-1 (=ATCC 49582=NBRC 100476) demonstrate a much closer relationship to and than to other species in the order . In addition, the preferred use of UGG rather than UGA as the codon for tryptophan in the sequence probably places the organism outside the order . It is proposed that be reclassified in the genus , as comb. nov.
