Abstract

A strain of obligately anaerobic, Gram-stain-negative and non-spore-forming rod-shaped bacterium was isolated from a human wound and characterized both phenotypically and genotypically. The strain was moderately saccharolytic and proteolytic. Phylogenetic analysis was based on full-length 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis and revealed the strain to represent a member of the genus , but to be different from the described species, with the closest relationship to and . The genomic DNA G+C content was 43.2 mol%. The most abundant cellular long-chain fatty acids were 3-OH iso-C, anteiso-C and iso-C. In view of phenotypical and biochemical characteristics as well as gene sequencing, strain A1336 is considered to represent a novel species within the genus , for which the name sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is A1336(=DSM 100333 =CCUG 67421 =CCOS 902).
