Abstract

A Gram-stain-negative, aerobic, motile with a single polar flagellum, non-spore-forming and rod-shaped bacterial strain named T33 was isolated from forest soil collected at Kyonggi University, South Korea. The strain was catalase- and oxidase-positive, colonies grew on R2A agar at 32 °C. Sequencing of the 16S rRNA gene and phylogenetic analysis revealed that T33 represented a member of the genus and is closely related to KACC 12599 (98.7 % sequence similarity), KACC 12505 (98.5 %), KACC 14940 (98.4 %), KACC 17471 (98.1 %), LMG 28164 (97.7 %), CCUG 38318 (97.4 %), CCUG 58010 (97.3 %), and KACC 12632 (97.0 %). Ubiquinone Q-8 is the predominant respiratory quinone, and phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylglycerol, and diphosphatidylglycerol are the major polar lipids. The major fatty acids are summed feature 3 (Cω6 and/or Cω7), summed feature 8 (Cω6 and/or Cω7), and C. DNA–DNA hybridization revealed <70 % relatedness between strain T33 and the most closely related type strains. The DNA G+C content of strain T33is 69.4 mol%. Based on physiological and biochemical test results, T33 is proposed as a novel species of the genus . The type strain is T33 (=KACC 18748=KEMB 9005-368=JCM 31316).
