Abstract

A Gram-stain-negative, facultatively anaerobic, moderately halophilic, filamentous, non-motile bacterium, designated FA102, was isolated from marine sediment from the coast of Weihai, PR China. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that strain FA102 formed a distinct evolutionary lineage within the family and its closest relative was JCM 15579 (93.2 % sequence similarity). The DNA G+C content of the novel strain was 36.5 mol%. The predominant cellular fatty acids and respiratory quinone were iso-C and iso-C 3-OH, and MK-7, respectively. On the basis of the phylogenetic, phenotypic and physiological data, strain FA102 represents a novel genus and species, for which the name gen. nov., sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain of is FA102 (=KCTC 42257=DSM 28825=CICC 10902). Furthermore, a new order named is proposed to accommodate three families previously classified in the order . ord. nov. encompasses the families , and .
