Abstract

SUMMARY

Original descriptions and comparative studies indicate that and produce single spores on aerial mycelium only and should be classified as a species of . Schuurmans ., 1956, becomes (Schuurmans .) comb. nov. Our isolate P101 is proposed as a neotype of and is deposited at NRRL (B-3044). The species name (Lehmann and Schütze) Waksman should be recognized as a “” because of the inadequate description, particularly of its cultural and physiological characteristics and the lack of a culture of the type strain.
